Mustang Workouts
Hello Volleyball Family!
We hope you are well and enjoying some extra time with your family. We pray that God is also blessing you in ways that only He knows you need.
This will be your "go to" over the next 2 months to help us prepare for the volleyball season. There is a lot here but we feel like if you, the athlete, can execute this plan, when we return to the gym we will be in a physically prepared place. The program is designed to give you 4 weeks on, 1 week off then 4 weeks on, 1 week off. When the 10 weeks is over our summer camp schedule will take over.
Our plan is to have you exercise 4 days a week. Each day will start similarly with Warm-up Exercises and Dynamic Stretches. Following that, we will alternate between Session 1 and Session 2 of the Station work. For example, Stations 1 could be performed on Mondays and Thursdays while Stations 2 could be performed on Tuesdays and Fridays. After the Stations work, each day will include some sprint work. The sprint work will start out with “1 set” per day and will progress to have as many as “4 sets” in one day. The sprint work is designed to simulate the amount of distance covered by a volleyball player during a set/match of volleyball. This will allow us to condition for games without having to play an actual game.
Each document you can see from here will include some direction as to how each of these elements works. There is a conditioning calendar, the off season workouts, a conditioning program for sprint work, and video clips to give you demonstrations of everything. If at any time you come across something that you don’t understand or need more explaining just ask.
